Task Content type is not getting populated in approval workflow

While i am trying to create approval workflow, the task content type column drop down values are not getting populated and when i click on submit it is saying as folows

"Server was unable to process the request , object reference not set to an instance of an object."

I surprised that in same web application for different site collection it is working fine .

Any  help is highly appriciated
