Requirement:
Infopath XML file is set to initiate a workflow when changes are made. The workflow set a value of the item on the list.
When the value is set by the workflow while the form is open it creates a "newer version" and when you try to save the form again you now get a red alert stating that "there is a newer version of the for, please save the form by a different name" but in actuality it is the same form and not a newer form.
I've tried checking it out first in the workflow so changes aren't made till the form is checke back in but users are not savvy enough to know to check the form back in. So they think their change was never made and call for support. I don't know of a way to change the "modied" date field via workflow but if I could do that then maybe that would work.
Anyone have any solutions for this conondrum?
