New Form (Create AD User) - Query AD for existing user

If using the included workflow for (Create AD User) is it possible to query AD, from the Form, to see if user already exists before submitting?  If so, how?

I know AD will not create an account with same login name.  I need to query for a different field.  That field is  Employee-ID.
